The Microsoft’s Co founder has joined the row between FBI and Apple, stating that Apple should fulfill the request of the government agency, FBI when it comes to terrorism analysis. Gates said that Apple should unlock the iPhone 5C belonging to San Bernardino Shooter.

The Financial Times reported that Gates also inquired Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook’s enactment of the case as a demand for a “backdoor”

Gates said that “This is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case,”.
Despite support of Google, Facebook, Edward Snowden and many other reputed companies to Apple, Microsoft has backed FBI’s decision.
Mark Zuckerberg also extended his support to Apple and said “we’re sympathetic with Apple, We believe in encryption, we think that that’s an important tool”.
The FBI has asked Apple to rewrite the software on the iPhone 5C used by San Bernardino attacker, so that government agency can enter the pass code multiple times and prevent erasing of data after ten failed attempts.
Apple wrote in customer letter that “The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers. We oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand”.
Apple says it will loose trust of the users if it lets FBI hack the iPhone of the San Bernardino attacker. It seems that Apple is giving first priority to the user’s privacy. If you liked this article, feel free to share it !
