Gates said that “This is a specific case where the government is asking for access to information. They are not asking for some general thing, they are asking for a particular case,”.

Mark Zuckerberg also extended his support to Apple and said “we’re sympathetic with Apple, We believe in encryption, we think that that’s an important tool”.

The FBI has asked Apple to rewrite the software on the iPhone 5C used by San Bernardino attacker, so that government agency can enter the pass code multiple times and prevent erasing of data after ten failed attempts.

Apple wrote in customer letter that “The United States government has demanded that Apple take an unprecedented step which threatens the security of our customers. We oppose this order, which has implications far beyond the legal case at hand”.
