Galaxy Note 9 Codename Hints At Samsung’s Grand Ambitions

According to a report published on Monday by the Investor, the South Korean giant Samsung Electronics may soon start developing its next phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 development project, codenamed “Crown”, does not come as a great novelty, since several other previous reports had already indicated the strategy of the South Korean giant Samsung to accelerate the development of its smartphones, with predictions that the Galaxy S9 will arrive in early 2019.

An employee of one of the company’s suppliers told Bell that sending the parts to the “Crown Project” will begin from the first quarter of next year.

Another curious fact is that, even subtly, the identification names of South Korean smartphones in the development phase usually give hints of what the company plans.

In its design phase, the Galaxy Note 8 was named “Baikal” – name of one of the largest lakes in the world – anticipating the large size of the device. The Samsung Galaxy S8, in turn, was identified as “Dream” (dream), representing the dream of the South Korean giant Samsung to overcome the tech giant Apple.

Therefore, “Crown” may be an allusion to the fact that the South Korean giant Samsung has the ambition to achieve its dominance over the smartphone market with the launch of Galaxy Note 9.

The report does not specify any details or features of the upcoming South Korean phablet, but the device is expected to offer a large screen, 3D facial recognition system, dual camera system and fingerprint sensor on the screen itself.
