Sundar Pichai Slams Donald Trump’s Immigration Order, Calls It ‘Painful’
Well, Donald Trump announced new rules for the US. Donald Trump signed a new executive order to suspend refugee arrivals and forced and applied tight controls on travelers from seven Muslim countries (Iran, Iraq, Syria and Sudan. Libya, Yemen, and Somalia)
That means the resident of seven Muslim countries if were outside of the US at the time the order went into effect, they will be restricted from entering the country for at least the next 90 days.
Google’s India-born CEO Sundar Pichai criticized Donald Trump’s controversial immigration order by saying that it will create “barriers” to bring great talent to the US and had ordered more than 100 employees traveling overseas to return to the US.
Sundar Picha said that at least 187 Google employees would be affected. In his email, Sundar Pichai wrote
“We’re upset about the impact of this order and any proposals that could impose restrictions on Googlers and their families, or that could create barriers to bringing great talent to the US. It’s painful to see the personal cost of this executive order on our colleagues. Our first order of business is to help Googlers who are affected. If you’re abroad and need help please reach out to our global security team.”
“Grappling with what this might mean for them and their families. Just as that discussion was happening, another Googler was rushing back from a trip to New Zealand to make it into the US before the order was signed.”
“We wouldn’t wish this fear and uncertainty on anyone—and especially not our fellow Googlers. In times of uncertainty, our values remain the best guide.”
Previously, Apple CEO Tim Cook also shared his views on Donald Trump’s order. He said that “Apple would not exist without immigration, let alone thrive and innovate the way we do.”
