Since the appearance of the fingerprint sensor in smartphones that much has been debated on the best place to position it. Behind the front home button, on the side or simply pulling it out, several are the opinions of the users. In addition to these options, companies now have the option of integrating it under the screen, making it easier to use.

During recent times, several devices were thought to bring this technology, however, without ever being confirmed. After some prototypes and many rumours, the MWC 2019 served as a showcase for the materialization of this idea, which came to us from VIVO.

The year 2019 should then be the year that fingerprint sensors will pass under the screen, with some examples already on the market. The latest is the Huawei P20 Porsche Design Mate RS, which was introduced last month, and should now be followed by other models, such as the Xiaomi Mi 7.

The Chinese brand wants to keep abreast of other brands in what technology is about and has now announced, through its CEO, that its next top-tier will incorporate this new technology. This confirmation was given by Lei Jun in the comments of a publication on the Xiaomi Mi 2S.

The fingerprint sensor will then be positioned under the 5.65″ OLED screen with a notch, which will come accompanied by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB RAM and Android 8.0.

After having signed a partnership with Qualcomm, Vivo and other Chinese brands, Xiaomi is trying to equip its smartphones with the latest technologies in order to become even more competitive.
