YouTube Music is now available on Wear OS so that the users can stream music directly from the Wear OS app. Whether you are on LTE or WiFi, you can access all your music, even if you leave your phone at home.
According to The Verge, for quick access to the playlists, users can add the app as a widget. In a community post, Google says you can access 80 million songs via the YouTube Music app.
However, to use the app on Wear OS, you have to be a Premium subscriber of the YouTube Music app. And the cellular streaming option is only available for Android users and not for iOS.
Wear OS Users Can Now Stream Music On YouTube Music App
The app supports Google’s Smart Downloads feature. This feature automatically refreshes the songs downloaded to your Wear OS watch whenever it’s connected to Wi-Fi. Moreover, the app also provides a custom playlist based on the streaming history.
This function brings a big change for Wear OS users, as there wasn’t any support for the YouTube Music streaming app. In 2020, Google Play Music shut down, which was supported to Wear OS.
However, Apple Watch already has a YouTube Music app. This function came to Wear OS 3 and 2 last year.
YouTube Music on Wear OS was first launched on Galaxy Watch 4. Later, Google rolled out the app to Wear OS 2 watches powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chips.
Last week at an annual I/O event, Google confirmed about Pixel Watch launch with an optional LTE this year. The company also discussed more app options on Wear OS 3, including Google Wallet and Google Home.
Recently, Google and Samsung announced Google Assistant Wear OS 3 feature would arrive this summer.
How to Use YouTube Music on Wear OS?
YouTube Music is supported on watches running the latest version of Wear OS 2 or newer. To get started, first download the YouTube Music App to Wear OS watch.
- Open Play Store on your watch and search for YouTube Music
- Select the app and download it on your device
- Once the app is installed, sign in to your YouTube Music account and start listening to music.
You can also browse your library, workout suggestions, personalized music recommendations, and more.
When you have YouTube Music on Wear OS, you can listen to music via connecting to a Bluetooth accessory. One can directly download music to Watch and listen to music without an internet connection.
