WhatsApp is ending its support to a huge number of old devices from the December 31st. Check out the list of devices that will no longer run WhatsApp application from the December 31, 2016.

WhatsApp Will No Longer Work On These Phones

The upcoming Christmas is a good time to change your devices, especially if you are a user who still has an old smartphone, and possibly after this news you might have to add a new gift in the letter to the Santa.

The most used instant messaging application has announced worldwide that it will not continue to support the older operating system ranges by the end of this year. The company itself has said that the removal will be gradual compared to older models of Windows, Apple, Android in January 2017, while the Blackberry and Nokia will loose the support by the middle of the next year 2017.

In the last 12 months, we have seen WhatsApp introduced a series of innovations that improve the application and provide us with features not previously possessed. Such as video calls, end to end encryption of messages, text in bold italics, etc.

However, some of these features do not work on older devices, so, for this reason, the most used instant messaging application worldwide WhatsApp intends to phase out support to these devices so that they can simply focus largely on the service they provide to all those who can already enjoy these features.

The most used instant messaging application worldwide WhatsApp announced the change earlier this year as we mentioned earlier, but specified that would be implemented by the end of 2016, so few days left before this happens.

The generation of the iPhone 3GS will be affected by this abandonment by WhatsApp, and not only that but this will also decrease the compatibility with iOS 6, so those who have iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 who are not able to upgrade to iOS 7 will simply lose the opportunity to use the service.

While in Android, it has also come with few strong measures, as in this case, the devices that will no longer enjoy the service will be all those smartphones and tablets that still retain versions of Android 2.1 and Android 2.2 . Besides all those devices containing Windows Phone 7 will also be displaced by the application.

As for Blackberry and Nokia, this will be delayed somewhat since BlackBerry OS and Nokia Symbian S60 will also lose this support but will do so in June 2017. As we told earlier that this two platform will loose this support by the middle of the next year 2017. So if you are one of those who still has one of these devices, it may be the time to ask for a good gift to Santa, as a latest Android device or iPhone. Even, the company itself advised all its old user with an old phone to buy a new one before the year-end.
