Apple may release its first ever first foldable device in 2026 or 2027, according to a recent news report published by a Korean website.

Apple To Launch A Foldable Device By 2026 Or 2027: Report

Apple To Launch A Foldable Device

The Cupertino-based tech firm is reportedly working on a foldable device with a display size of around 7-8”, which is believed to be a direct competition to the 7.6-inch Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, reports the Korean outlet The Elec (via MacRumors). However, whether this will be a foldable iPhone or a foldable iPad is uncertain.

As per The Elec, if the news of the inaugural foldable device replacing the 8.3-inch OLED iPad Mini is true, the upcoming device could be a foldable tablet, not an iPhone. Also, there are talks about Apple developing a next-gen iPad mini equipped with an OLED display. Hence, the foldable device’s exact specifications and features remain unclear and under development.

Also, the company is in talks with Korean display makers LG Display and Samsung Display, who have reportedly been sending screen samples of 7-inch and 8-inch to Apple since the previous year.

Of the two panel companies, Samsung Display is supposedly more active in developing Apple foldable panels than LG Display. If Apple decides to move forward with a 2026 release, Samsung Display will likely be the initial choice for foldable panel orders due to its experience with the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip phones.

While rumors keep floating about Apple’s potential entry into the foldable market, only time will tell how and when it decides to mark its entry into the foldable device market.
