Rockstar Games, the developer of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, in February 2022, had confirmed that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is in active development!

Unfortunately, Rockstar hasn’t yet provided any more information, such as the release date, graphics capabilities, platform support, and map updates, ever since it announced GTA 6 in 2022.

This hasn’t stopped excited gamers from speculating whether GTA 6 will have an online mode. Grand Theft Auto Online (GTAO), launched alongside GTA V in 2013, has earned its developers billions of dollars through the game’s Online mode.

'GTA 6' Leak Reveals Lack Of Dedicated Online Servers

Considering its massive success, GTA 6 Online too may be introduced by its developers. However, a recent leak from a famous Rockstar Games insider who goes by Tez2 on the GTA forums has revealed some worrying information about Grand Theft Auto 6’s online component, claiming that it won’t include its dedicated servers.

According to Tez2, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, rejected a proposal to pay for dedicated servers for the game’s multiplayer mode a few years ago, deeming it “cost-prohibitive” to operate them annually.

The absence of dedicated servers, just like in GTA V, may open the game to login and connection issues, lag, explosions, glitches, and other technical difficulties currently faced by players in the current version of GTA Online

Tez2 recently stated, “Explosion shenanigans may still occur on VI, because of how explosions are streamed from the closest player to them. Although, Rockstar keeps adding checks to explosion native functions. Much like GTAO recent Drug Wars update.”

None of this insider information has been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games, which means this info needs to be taken with a grain of salt until confirmation arrives.

On the other hand, if Tez2’s leak turns out to be accurate, the lack of dedicated servers in GTA 6 could bring in a lot of disappointment among players on launch day.
