Intel on Monday officially announced the launch of its new Intel Core 14th Generation desktop processor line-up, led by the flagship Intel Core i9-14900K, followed by Intel Core i7-14700K, and Intel Core i5-14600K.
Intel Announces New 14th Gen Core Desktop Processors
“Since introducing our performance hybrid architecture, Intel has consistently raised the bar for desktop performance. With our Intel Core 14th Generation processors, we’re again showing why enthusiasts turn to Intel for the best desktop experience available today,” Roger Chandler, Intel Vice President and General Manager, Enthusiast PC and Workstation, Client Computing Group.
To start with, Intel’s Core 14th Gen desktop CPUs come in 2 variants, with the K models featuring an integrated GPU and the graphic-less KF models.
Coming to the new Intel Core i9-14900K/KF, this desktop processor can deliver up to 24 cores and 32 threads and a frequency of up to 6GHz. It also includes 36MB of L3 cache.
On the other hand, Intel’s Core i7-14700K/KF offers 20 cores and 28 threads. Thanks to adding four efficient cores (E-cores) compared to the previous generation. It also includes 33MB of L3 cache and has a max speed of 5.6GHz.
The Core i5 models are led by the Core i5-14600K and Core i5-14600KF, which come with 14 cores and 20 threads. It includes a 24MB cache with a max clock speed of up to 5.3GHz.
“Intel Core 14th Gen processors power an immersive gaming experience with up to 23% gaming performance uplift compared to leading competitor processors, while new gaming-focused features like Intel Application Optimization (APO) ensure better-than-ever application threading alongside existing Intel Thread Director application thread scheduling,” Chandler added.
Intel’s Core 14th Gen desktop processors are equipped with Intel’s Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) AI Assist feature, bringing one-click AI-guided overclocking supported on certain Intel Core 14th gen unlocked SKUs.
The new CPUs also support DDR5 XMP speeds exceeding 8,000 mega transfers per second (MT/S). Further, the entire CPU line-up includes integrated support for Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3 and future support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. It also supports Thunderbolt 4 and the upcoming Thunderbolt 5 wired connectivity – promising up to 80 Gbps of bi-directional bandwidth.
Additionally, the new CPUs are compatible with Intel 600 and 700 series motherboards, allowing enthusiasts to easily upgrade their existing systems and enjoy the latest-generation gaming and creator performance.
Starting October 17, 2023, Intel Core 14th Gen desktop processors will be available at retail outlets and via OEM partner systems. The Intel Core i9-14900K, Core i7-1700K, and Core i5-14600K are priced at $589, $409, and $319, respectively.
On the other hand, the graphic cardless Intel Core i9-14900K, Core i7-14700K, and Core i5-14600K can be purchased for $564, $384, and $294, respectively.
