Intel Just Unveiled Its Monstrous Core i9 Specs, Price & Release Date

AMD has had a very good year thanks to the success of the line of Ryzen processors, but that does not make the Intel chips are less desired. Above all, the expectation is maximum to the new Core X, better known by the general public as Core i9. This unprecedented range of processors is about to see the light, and at last, we know when they will go on sale.

They will do it in late August and September, depending on which chip you want to buy. All the specifications of the Core i9 and its price have also been unveiled, two data yet to be confirmed publicly by the manufacturer. It seems that Intel is entering the race to offer the most powerful processor against AMD.

The Core i9 processor is divided into 12, 14, 16 and 18 cores. There are four in total – and today we will present the technical name of each one – with different release dates. The 12-core will be available on August 28, while the other three will hit the stores on September 25.

Before beginning to list data on the power of these SoC, we have to clarify that once again there is a winner between Intel and AMD. Both can say that they manufacture the most powerful processor if they analyze the data as they are interested.

Here are the technical specifications of the Intel Core i9:-

  • Core i9-7980XE (18 cores, 36 threads): 2.6GHz; Boost, 4.2GHz at 4.4 GHz
  • Core i9-7960X (16 cores, 32 threads): 2.8GHz; Boost, 4.2GHz at 4.4 GHz
  • Core i9-7940X 14 cores, 28 threads): 3.1GHz; Boost: 4.3GHz to 4.4GHz
  • Core i9-7920X (12 cores, 24-wire): 2.9-GHz; Boost: 4.3-GHz at 4.4GHz

If you compare these features with the AMD Threadripper, you can see that in the case of AMD a higher base clock speed is offered. However, when you take into account the Intel Core Boost – which gamers will undoubtedly take advantage of the gain by the potential assault of the Core X.

Obviously, once again the final decision is uniquely and irremediably in the hands of the users. Do you want to go to the reliable? Then Intel is your choice. If you want to give AMD a chance, resurged in 2017 as a direct competition and at the height of the market dominating brand, you will not have a better opportunity.

However, not let’s move towards the price section, the Core i9 exceeds that of the AMD Threadripper, which was to be expected. The low cost is the label that AMD has carved and that can not be refused.

  • Intel Core i9-7980XE: $ 1,999
  • Intel Core i9-7960X: $ 1,699
  • Intel Core i9-7940X: $ 1,399
  • Intel Core i9-7920X: $ 1,199
