We all know very well that the problems of computer security are, as a rule, associated with failures in the operating systems and in the applications that run on them. It is not normal for failures to be on the hardware that supports them. However, now according to the latest reports, Intel’s latest core SoCs have Built-In security flaws for years.

Intel’s Latest Core Processors Have Built-In Security Flaws For Years

The problems of computer security are, as a rule, associated with failures in the operating systems and in the applications that run on them. It is not normal for failures to be on the hardware that supports them.

However, there are situations where problems are in normally safe areas, being more difficult to detect and solve. Intel has now released an alert, which reveals that its newer processors have a serious security problem.

It is not at all normal that security holes are housed in processors, much less that they can be exploited remotely. But that is precisely the problem that Intel has at this moment in its hand.

A failure in Intel processors after 2015 has been detected that allows them to be attacked remotely. There are several failures in Management Engine and Server Platform Services that allow remote attackers to run malware, gain access privileges, and take control of computers and other devices. All these actions take place without the user taking it for granted.

To help identify the problem, Intel made available the list of the various processor families affected:-

  • 6th, 7th, and 8th generation Intel® Core
  • v5 and v6 of the Intel Xeon E3-1200
  • Intel Xeon Scalable
  • Intel Xeon W
  • Intel Atom C3000
  • Apollo Lake Intel Atom (E3900 series)
  • Apollo Lake Intel® Pentium
  • Celeron N and J

There is also an Intel tool, designed for Linux and Windows, that helps users identify whether their processors have problems or not.

Intel has already released an update that will fix this problem on most of its affected processors, however, the list of manufacturers that already makes it available for their equipment is still reduced.

If you have a new computer or laptop that is based on an Intel processor, then it is more likely that you are having problems, so you should look to the manufacturer for a solution. This failure was not expected, but the truth is that it exists and urgently it should be resolved.
