The tech giant Apple iPhone 8 is expected to feature some revolutionary changes in terms of design and features. But, according to a report published in The Korea Economic Daily, the tech giant Apple is working with LG Innotek to develop a smartphone camera module that will enable 3D photography.
Apple iPhone 8 To Feature 3D Dual Lens Camera
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus arrived on September 7 2016, but the rumor mill is already growing around the next device and it is the seventh generation of Apple phones that has not managed to penetrate as deep as the above, since it does not constitute a major step forward either in terms of design or hardware. So, now it seems that the tech giant Apple will do without an iPhone 7s to go directly to the ‘iPhone 8’, which has the responsibility to innovate and amaze users.
The news website “The Korean Economic Daily” has published an article which is about the collaboration between the tech giant Apple and LG. The South Korean firm is the current supplier of modules for the dual camera that integrates the iPhone 7 Plus.
But the interesting thing is that this collaboration ensures that both the tech giants might be working on a new module for the main dual camera of next iPhone in July that would come in the next presentation, an event that usually takes place in September. Hence, both companies developing this component would allow you to take or capture 3D images.
However, if this news is confirmed, then the tech giant Apple could be one of the first company around the world to hold smartphones that could simply take or capture 3D images.
Sources close to the tech giant Apple have stated that: “Apple is now studying how to apply its 3D camera technology into LG Innotek’s smartphone camera.” adding, “Since LG Innotek also has its own 3D camera and related technologies, such joint efforts will likely to bear fruit sometime within next year”.
The article also notes that initially the 3D would be reserved for the portrait mode currently only has the iPhone 7 Plus. The reason is because this camera functionality is something that allows us to take a more accurate picture of the object being photographed, hence, it only focus on the subject instead of the background.
Earlier in April 2015 the tech giant Apple acquired an Israeli start-up known as LinX for US$20 million, it is a company dedicated and specialized in the development of these type of technologies. Moreover, the company LinX, founded in the year 2011, it has the technology of adding more depth to photos by dividing the digital image into three stages.
However, now the truth is that whatever it does, the company still have to wait a few months until the rumors about this and many other features appeared over the time are confirmed.
