What goes around comes around. Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella takes a dig at Tim Cook for underestimating Microsoft Surface.
Microsoft CEO Laughs at Apple Inc. For a Genuine Reason
Apple’s CEO Tim cook will now realize that his words can haunt him too, because Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella has taken some of Tim Cook’s words and gently wafted them right back at him, according to CNET.
If we roll back to early 2012, Tim cook had talked about the state of Apple during the company’s first-quarter earning call. Tim cook said:
“You can converge a toaster and a refrigerator, but you know those things are probably not going to be pleasing to the user. So our view is that the tablet market is huge; we’ve said that since day one, we didn’t wait until we had a lot of results… The iPad has taken off in not only consumer in a meaningful way, but in consumer, in education, enterprise, and its sort of everywhere you look now”
Tim Cook on April 2012 had benignly derided Microsoft’s convertible tablets, the surface family saying it was like mixing “a toaster and a refrigerator”. However, after Apple released its own iPad pro, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella mocks Apple for making iPad pro like surface.
In an interview with the Australian Financial review, Satya Nadella mused on the increasing success of the Surface. “Three years ago, the two-in-one as a form factor was questioned,”
Satya Nadella said “Does anybody need one? And now guess what, even our competition has decided that it’s not a refrigerator and a toaster, but it’s actually a two-in-one.”
Apple expressly claimed that iPad pro was a computer, on the other hand, Apple had always insisted it was a tablet. That was enough to create lots of confusion amongst people.
According to Satya Nadella, the iPad pro is actually a “two-in-one” device which is similar to a surface, that Tim cook had earlier derided in 2012 considered silly or unmarketable.
