Microsoft Unveils New Operating System

At Microsoft’s education event, the company just announced the new Windows 10 S. With some new features compared to traditional Windows 10, will this be the new competitor of Google’s Chrome OS?

After a few (small) rumors, the tech giant Microsoft has confirmed the new Windows 10 S, which is arguably a strong competitor of Google’s Chrome OS. According to the tech giant Microsoft, this new version of Windows will help change education globally, which is also one of the priorities and contributions of the Redmond company itself.

The new Windows 10 S is the natural successor to Windows RT and will only run apps that are available in the Windows Store (a full version of Office will soon be available for this version as well). In this way, the tech giant Microsoft ensures that this will be an even more secure system, with no need to install apps outside of the company’s application store.

The “S”, of Windows 10 S, is supposed to be simplicity. In addition, this new version of Windows 10 also does not require any special hardware. Windows 10 S can run on any machine that has the requirements to run the traditional Windows 10.

If users want to install apps outside of the app store, then you can simply switch between Windows S and Windows 10 (Traditional). This will be the only way to install apps outside the Microsoft application store.

Windows 10 S will also be the best-performing version, compared to other Windows versions, offering super-fast startup. In a demonstration during the event, the tech giant Microsoft said that this new version of Windows is 2x faster to boot than the traditional version of Windows 10.

The operating system also allows the teacher to create a custom installation of Windows 10 S and then run it on any PC capable of running Windows 10. All this in less than 30 seconds and using only a USB Pen.

Unlike other versions of Windows, Microsoft reveals that the performance of this system will be the same on the first and last day of school.

But, what about the Prices?

Windows 10 S PCs targeted at education and will be available starting at $ 189 and the tech giant Microsoft has already partnered with a number of brands including Acer, Asus, Dell, Fujitsu, HP, Samsung, and Toshiba. This new version will be free for all schools that already have to license for Windows 10 PRO.
