As we all know very well that Reliance Jio is clearly dominating the Indian telecom market, along with the telecom market Reliance Jio’s Lyf smartphones have been also selling in India for quite a few months now, but, the company still needs to hit the rural and small markets for its data services and mobile business.

Hence, after taking the telecom sector with a storm, now Reliance Jio which is especially known for its high-speed free internet, free voice calls and SMS is preparing to launch new feature phone with a price as low as Rs. 1500. Yes, it may sound crazy but, it’s true, as this feature phone series from Reliance Jio are expected to launch soon this year 2017.

According to the site Hindustan Times, “Reliance Jio will use Spreadtrum chipsets simply to enable 4G VoLTE calls on the Rs. 1,500 feature phones. The report says, citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, that Reliance Jio is “expectedly in talks” with Qualcomm and MediaTek, which account for a huge chunk of the processors used in smartphones nowadays”.

Interestingly, these feature phones will work a lot like the other smartphones as well as they will also come with the unlimited Internet and calling functionality. According to the latest reports in ET, Reliance Jio is working with Shanghai-based Spreadtrum Communications to make its 4G VoLTE phones affordable.

Moreover, the Spreadtrum Communications’ country head told ET media that “We are working on a technology that makes a Rs. 1,500 4G VoLTE feature phone viable. We have already started concept promotions to our partners”.

Further, the company itself recently confirmed that it has over 100 million subscribers right now and has been considered as a data-first service, and its 4G plans start for as low as Rs. 19 along with the free voice calls and access to premium Jio apps. As we all know that Reliance Jio’s service works only with 4G-enabled handsets.

So, the company knows very well that with its 4G VoLTE-Enabled feature phone it could simply attract massive numbers users and it can also expand its 4G service as well. Now, it seems that Jio will once again hit the market with a huge storm in the coming months.
