WhatsApp Now Let's You Transfer Chats Between iOS & Android

Whatsapp is finally rolling out a new feature that helps you to transfer chat history between iOS and Android and vice versa. The users were requesting this for so long, and now Whatsapp announced the cross-platform chat transfer, but there’s a catch.

Though the users can transfer their chats, the option will not be available to everyone as of now. Whatsapp chat transfer option will only be there on the new Samsung Foldable smartphones, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.

The chat transferring feature was announced at the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Event 2021. The Whatsapp chat migration feature will only be there on Samsung phones as of now; it is not known when it will be available for all other devices.

This move by Samsung will be a part of the company’s Smart Switch tool. It allows you to transfer data like alarms, call logs, photos, and more.

“The feature will be available to users of both Android and iOS systems — which means that people will be able to switch from both Android to iOS, and from iOS to Android. It will start to roll out on Android initially, and on Samsung’s newest Galaxy phones to start. Users will be able to take their WhatsApp history from iOS to an Android device, and will subsequently be able to do the same on iOS devices.”

How to Transfer Whatsapp Chats from iPhone to Samsung?

To migrate the Whatsapp chat history from iPhone to Samsung phone, you will need a Lightning to USB-C cable. Connect the two phones together and then scan a QR code to transfer the chats.

The iPhone devices running on iOS 10.0 and above supports this feature and Android 10 or above.

Sandeep Paruchuri, a product Manager at Whatsapp, said,

“We are excited for the first time to make it easy for people to securely transfer their WhatsApp history from one operating system to another. This has been one of our most requested features from users for years and we worked together with operating systems and device manufacturers to solve it”.

This new feature will be useful, especially for those who wanted to switch from Android to iPhone or vice versa. As when someone changes the phone, it’s obvious they will need all of their data in the new phone with Whatsapp chats.

Earlier there was no option, but now you don’t need to worry. However, all of the users will need to wait for the feature to roll out for all the devices.
