An Android application has been found that at first glance seems an exact copy of the most used and popular instant messaging application WhatsApp, although it is a false version without information of what its intentions are. The application also has the same name and shows that it was from the developer of the original one.

A clone of the most used and popular instant messaging application WhatsApp has been found that has managed to deceive more than one million users. They named it “Update WhatsApp Messenger.” The most serious is that the developer was shown as “WhatsApp Inc.”, the real name of the most used and popular instant messaging application in the Android application store or you can Say Google Play Store.

The trick that the imitators have used is intelligent, to pass themselves off as an original version they wrote the developer name “WhatsApp Inc.”, note the space at the end of the point.

While for the tech giant Google servers, it’s a different name, but at first glance for anyone, it’s the same name as the social network giant Facebook has assigned to its WhatsApp development firm.

Reddit users, who were the ones who have sounded the alarm, have identified the application. Now it shows another name, developer and even captures, but you know what this is. Check carefully that you did not install this application because the interest of who published it is unknown and might be it is vulnerable as well.

To identify the original version of the most used instant messaging application, you can see the scores, the name of the developer (although as we have seen, it is not entirely reliable), the version number or, directly, access from this official address.
