Airtel, which is India’s largest telecom network operator has joined hands with Nokia to prepare for the next generation of 5G connectivity and Internet of Things (IoT) in India.
Well, as both will work jointly to make 5G a reality in India, Nokia will be helping Airtel to strengthen their existing 4G networks in terms of efficiency, and cost effectiveness. Nokia will make sure that Airtel is ready for 5G.
However, if you are Airtel users, don’t expect 5G services from Nokia anytime soon because the expected time for the launch of 5G connectivity is sometime around the year 2020.
We had previously shared an article where we mentioned that ITU (International Telecommunication Union) had made some rules that operators need to follow. 5G is said to offer the speed of minimum 100Mbps and support over million devices per square kilometer of geographic area.
Well, if we take a look at India, people are getting used to 4G LTE services. Network operators are trying hard to make sure they are ready for upcoming 5G services. Previously, we had seen Reliance Jio, the company providing free unlimited 4G data to users had teamed up with Samsung to work on 5G.
Nokia and Airtel will leverage Nokia’s 5G first end-to-end 5G solution which includes Nokia’s AirScale solution. Nokia’s Airscale will let service providers to scale their networks to keep adding more and more subscribers while maintaining the lowest possible latency.
