What about scams? Well Scam, or you can say a confidence trick which is an attempt to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence. Scammers have found a new way to gain authorize access to utility or credit card bills.
Well, this time scammers have targeted phone calls. They call the victim and asks “Can you hear me?” If the victim says “yes” then they get the authorized access to utility or credit card bills.
According to the reports from CBS News, Virginia Police is now warning folks in the US about the new scheme and are urging the mass not to answer the question because your voice and reply is recorded by scammers which they can use to access utility or credit card bills.
Susan Grant, Director of Consumer Protection for the Consumer Federation of America says “You say ‘yes,’ it gets recorded, and they say that you have agreed to something, I know that people think it’s impolite to hang up, but it’s a good strategy.”
The scammers already have the receiver’s phone number, credit card number and other bills which they gathered from data breaches. They record the receiver’s answer and use it in future in response to when the victim disputes the charge.
