Extratorrent Is Dead! Don’t Fall For Fake Clones
The web of torrents is struggling. There are clear signs that the torrent sites are not going through their best. Well, a few days ago we have seen the authors of Extratorrent have decided to shut down the site permanently.
Well, a few days ago we have seen the Extratorrent site has been brought back by uploaders and admins with a new domain Extratorrent.cd. The group also claimed that they have previously restored torrent site like The Pirate Bay and KickAss Torrents when they went down in the past.
Well, the Extratorrent story is taking a comparable turn as it was the case of KickAss Torrents. Loads of fake clones of Extratorrent are popping up. The new Extratorrent lookalike Extratorrent.ag is similar in appearance. However, the website doesn’t claim to be linked with Extratorrent.cc.
The Faq page shows the following description “ExtraTorrent.ag is the biggest BitTorrent system. Our goal is to provide an easy-to-use directory and search engine for all kind of torrent files. Visitors of ExtraTorrent.ag can upload torrents to this site, tracked by any BitTorrent tracker.”
It looks like that the website wants to obtain some internet traffic on behalf of Extratorrent which went offline a few days ago. According to Telegiz, the site indexes almost all movie torrents uploaded by YiFi group.
In the meantime, Extratorrent2.cc has also come into presence. This is another clone of Extratorrent. However, the faq page of Extratorrent2.cc claims that the site was a Fan Made alternative
“ExtraTorrent2.cc is A Fan Made Alternative. Extratorrent Was The World’s Largest BitTorrent System, ExtraTorrent2 is trying to replace it.”
Well, the indexed torrent hasn’t been tested by us. Therefore, if you have planned to use these websites, use them at your own risk.
