Everything You Need To Know About The Youtube Gif Thumbnail Feature

We love using YouTube, as wherever we want to watch videos, the first website we head over to is youtube. Google is rolling out a new update to YouTube with a YouTube GIF preview. Now, this feature will come in handy in many cases for us.

Recently, a new feature has been added, and I am sure those who use YouTube on the desktop must have experienced a change in the user interface. Earlier, the YouTube GIF thumbnails were actually available for selected users, but this new feature is available for most of the users from now onwards. This feature is convenient as we can take a glimpse preview of what is in the video. It is also useful to see whether a particular video is spam or not; we every day see on youtube a lot of spam.

This feature is convenient as we can take a glimpse preview of what is in the video. It is also useful to see whether a particular video is spam or not; we every day see on youtube a lot of spam. People use clickbait thumbnails to gain views, so bringing a GIF preview will stop such clickbait.

Google had launched this functionality to the online video streaming service in February 2017, but we are receiving this update very late, but still, it’s good to receive the update.

The feature is easy to use, you need to move your pointer on the thumbnail option, and automatically you will see a short GIF will play. It will actually help the individual understand what the video is all about. Moreover, you will come to know that a particular video is a spam or clickbait.

The GIF plays a video for about 3 seconds without sound. It is useful for those who use YouTube daily. It improves the user experience to some extent. For the mobile version of youtube, the thumbnail version is not available. It is only available for desktop, and also, your Chrome version must be  32 and Opera version 19 and above. So if you are one of those who watch youtube videos daily on your desktop or laptop, this feature might come in handy for you.

Google has made it clear that the video to get a GIF thumbnail has to be at least 30 seconds longer. If any video does not get it within two days, then you won’t be getting it at all.

So, guys, what do you think of this new feature from youtube? Do let us know your thoughts in the comment section below. Thanks for reading our article, and we hope you guys have a great day.
