Rockstar Games, the developer of the GTA series, released the first trailer of its highly anticipated game, Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), in December 2023 on its official YouTube channel.
The company also announced that the game would be coming to Sony PS5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S consoles in 2025.
GTA 6 Release Date Officially Confirmed By Rockstar Parent Company
However, in March 2024, there were reports that the GTA 6 release date may be pushed until late 2025 or even into 2026, as the video game’s development was facing challenges, causing it to fall behind.
In a new update on GTA 6’s development, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, has officially confirmed in its latest financial report that the video game will have a ‘Fall’ 2025 release window. This means that we can see GTA 6 being released between September 2025 and November 2025.
“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two in its Q4 2024 earnings call report.
Zelnick also confirmed the release date in a separate interview with IGN: “We do feel highly confident that we’ll deliver [Grand Theft Auto VI] in fall of 2025.”
On a different note, let’s not forget the monumental success of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5). The game celebrated its 10th anniversary in September last year. Since its official release in 2013, GTA V has been a global sensation, selling over 200 million copies worldwide. It has earned the title of the world’s second best-selling game of all time, just behind Minecraft, which has over 300 million sales globally.
