It is the 25th Anniversary of the Linux project since it was announced on August 25, 1991, by its inventor, a Finnish programmer known as Linus Torvalds.
Happy Birthday! LINUX Turns 25 Years Old Today
25 years ago it was announced the first version of a technology that was able to change the world as we know over the years, this was the birth of Linux.
Yes, it is the 25th Anniversary of the Linux project announced on August 25, 1991, by its inventor, a Finnish programmer known as Linus Torvalds.
Is there anyone who can forget one of the most famous messages in the computing world that is propped by the inventor of Linux, a Finnish programmer known as Linus Torvalds exactly 25 years ago:
“Hello, everybody out there using minix –
I’m doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, will not be big and professional like gnu) for 386 (486) AT clones. This has been brewing since April and is starting to get ready. I’d like any feedback on things people like / dislike in minix, as my OS Resembles it somewhat (same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical Reasons) Among other things).
I’ve ported bash Currently (1.08) and GCC (1.40), and things seem to work. This IMPLIES That I’ll get something practical Within a few months, and I’d like to know what features people would MOST want. Any suggestions are welcome, but I will not promise I’ll Implement them 🙂

The Linux Foundation Executive Director Jim Zemlin said that “Even after 25 years, Linux still serves as an example of how collaborative development can work, which can be applied to other open source projects,”. Also added that “This report provides insight into the development trends and methodologies used by thousands of different individuals collectively to create some of the most important software code on the planet”.
Though the open source operating system Linux unable to beat the tech giant Microsoft Windows on the desktop, it is already used by the millions of open source lovers across the world. But, recently even the tech giant Microsoft expressed keen interest in Linux and open source technologies.
Linux operating system has become the most shared technology on earth and popularized the revolution of Open Source, which is changing our world in more ways than we can imagine as well as it is the world’s most successful open source projects with 22 million lines of code.
