Huawei Teases Advanced Facial Recognition Tech; Claims To Be 10 Times Better Than Apple Face ID

With the iPhone X, the tech giant Apple brought to the market some innovations. The most talked about, and possibly most important, is the Face ID. The technology it encompasses is unique.

The market immediately prepared to respond to Face ID and the first competitor seems to be coming. The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei has now announced that it will be able to do better than Face ID very soon.

It was at the end of the presentation of the latest element of the Honor family, the V10, that the well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei unveiled a novelty that could soon be a reality in their smartphones.

According to the Chinese brand, its proposal for facial recognition is being created and will be able to be better than the tech giant Apple has in Face ID.

Its technology combines the use of infrared with a projector to create a 3D image of the user’s face. The difference is in the 300,000 points you can capture in 10 seconds. This point value is 10 times higher than what the tech giant Apple has in Face ID.

With these specifications, this new technology from Huawei is able to supplant Face ID and be used not only for facial recognition to unlock equipment but also for other secure operations such as payments or access to information.

The well-known Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei also introduced its version of the Animoji apps. Here too, there is a difference to what the tech giant Apple gets. They are not just expressions that can be copied. This version, thanks to Huawei’s 3D facial recognition technology, can present elements like an external language also.

Despite what has been shown, there is still no information on how and when this news will reach Huawei’s smartphones. The brand will finish developing it and will then be a reality in its line of equipment. The tech giant Apple may have shown the way, but now there are manufacturers with Huawei to bridge the gap and create new and better solutions.
