Windows 10 S is the latest version of Windows 10 made available by the tech giant Microsoft and was announced in May at #MicrosoftEDU together with the Surface Laptop. It is a specially designed version for the academic world and for the students, something similar to what the tech giant Google has with Chrome OS.
The first device to be released with Windows 10 S was, of course, the Surface Laptop. The tech giant Microsoft initially put the possibility of the owners of this devices to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro for free, by December 31st, 2017. However, this time it has now been extended by the tech giant Microsoft itself.
This announcement was made in a statement simultaneously with the launch of the Surface Laptop in a wide color palette and is now limited to the 4 colors released at the beginning of its commercialization.
With the launch of this new Surface Laptop configuration, the tech giant Microsoft took the opportunity to announce that the upgrade to Windows 10 S included in the Windows 10 Pro product will be extended until March 31st, 2019.
This upgrade is not required and is only advised in certain cases as it will remove some battery life from Surface and make Windows 10 S safer and more efficient.
The tech giant Microsoft recommends that if you upgrade any required software and that is not available in the Windows Store, then simply you can use other sources. The upgrade is easily and quickly accomplished through the device settings.
The tech giant Microsoft thus attracts users to its latest Surface range release, allowing them more time to upgrade to the operating system and, consequently, more time to use and explore Windows 10 S.
From the deadline for upgrading, users will be able to upgrade their Surface Laptop for Windows 10 Pro by spending around $60.
