Recently, the tech giant Microsoft declared that soon it is going to retire the original release of Windows 10 (whose version is 1507).
Microsoft Is Retiring Original Windows 10
With a completely different approach than usual and with the clear objective of becoming the most used, Microsoft has Windows 10 as its operating system at the moment.
With only two years of market, Microsoft is preparing to abandon the first version of Windows 10, finished its support as early as March 2017.
After being introduced to the world in October 2014, Windows 10 arrived to users on 29 July of the following year. On that day it was finally possible to install the new version of Microsoft’s operating system, free of charge for most users.
Microsoft has maintained constant updates to this version, in August last year launched the first major update of Windows 10, the Anniversary Update.
With these updates and improvements, Microsoft wants to focus on continuing the developments of Windows 10 and, therefore, will discontinue support for the original version as early as March 2017, letting it receive any security or improvement updates.
It is expected by now that most users are already using much newer builds of Windows 10 and until that they have already made the Birthday upgrade. Windows 10 itself, contrary to what many want, forces users to do the upgrades, thus ensuring that the machines stay up to the date with the latest versions of Windows 10.
The decision to terminate support for the original version of Windows 10 fits into Microsoft’s plans to keep only the two most recent versions of its active operating system. While in the case of domestic customers these updates are almost mandatory and exist, in the business world this is a more difficult scenario to implement.
Here is what the tech giant Microsoft stated officially regarding this subject “With the availability of Windows 10, version 1607 to the VLSC on January 26th, the 60-day grace period for Windows 10, version 1507 will begin. That means, after March 26th, 2017, Windows 10, version 1507 will no longer be serviced as only the two most Current Branch for Business (CBB) versions are actively serviced”.
So, on March 26 the first version of Windows 10 will be discontinued. However, until then it is recommended that users make the upgrade to the Anniversary version.
