For those unaware, the upcoming “New Era of Work” digital-only event will showcase AI (artificial intelligence) advancements in platforms and devices such as Copilot, Windows, and Surface laptops.

According to a new report from Windows Latest, the Redmond giant will also reportedly introduce Paint NPU, a brand-new Microsoft Paint app, which will utilize the power of AI within its software suite to enhance user drawings with AI-based tweaks as they draw.

NPU stands for “Neural Processing Unit,” a specialized chip dedicated to calculations related to machine learning and AI and to speed up AI-based computations.

The new NPU-powered MS Paint will power the NPU resources, allowing users to quickly draw with the help of AI in real time. Further, as previously rumored by Windows Latest, the Paint app could also get a new “Live Canvas Panel” that resembles Leonardo.Ai’s Live Canvas, an AI-powered feature that can immediately draw a specific object on the image or convert a drawing into a specific digital art based on a text command. It can also turn sketches into detailed photos almost instantly.

Additionally, Microsoft plans to unveil a new “AI File Explorer” feature in Windows that will act as an advanced Copilot and turn everything to search specific moments within a timeline using natural language queries. The new AI-powered File Explorer feature will most likely be released with the Windows 11 2024 Update, known as Windows 11 version 24H2.

The digital “New Era of Work” event is scheduled for March 21 at 9:00 AM PDT / 11 AM CST / 12 PM EST. Stay tuned for more updates!
