If we talk about Microsoft Windows operating system, Windows XP is the most famous and trustable among users. Well, Microsoft’s Windows XP no longer receives security patches and updates since April 8, 2014, because the company had pulled off the extended support.
Microsoft launched its most successful desktop operating system Windows XP on October 25, 2001, and the Mainstream support came to an end on April 14, 2009. The reason why we are talking about Microsoft’s Windows XP is that the operating system officially turned 16 previous week.
According to the reports from NetMarketShare, Windows XP is refusing to die and it still holds the market share of 5.69% right now and it was declining day by day. On the other hand, Windows 8.1 is now running on only 5.89% of computers.
However, as we already mentioned the extended support from Microsoft for Windows XP has ended on April 8, 2014, which makes it prone to security risks. But despite all of these, the world is still leaving Windows XP at a slow pace.
Recently, Windows XP and Windows 7 operating system had been targeted by the popular WannaCry ransomware and Microsoft had released the emergency updates promptly.
