We still can not buy the Nokia 6, nor the Nokia 5, nor the Nokia 3, but HMD Global, the signature behind the brand new phones, has already confirmed that the trio of new Android smartphones from Nokia will be updated to Android O (Android 8.0) once the latest operating system from Google is officially available.
Android O is the next version of Google’s mobile platform and was officially announced even before the annual Google I/O Search giant conference held in May. Now it is HMD who in exclusive declarations to TechRadar assures that Android O will arrive on the Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3, although no dates have been mentioned for this arrival.
A spokesman for HMD Global told the media that “smartphones will get the Android update OR once the new version of Google’s operating system is available to its OEM partners, just as HMD Global is committed to Monthly Android Security Updates”.
The Android O update will not be available until the third quarter of 2017 (September or October), and it is unlikely that the new Nokia smartphones will receive the update right away.
The arrival of Android O to Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 has not confirmed yet. However, we must remember that in the past sometimes the manufacturers took months to launch new software. Without going any further today there are still quite a few “current” models that have not yet received the corresponding Android Nougat update. However, the fact that Nokia’s 3 smartphones run a near-stock version of Android 7 should make the switch to Android 8 faster and easier.

Earlier this week Pete Lau, one of the founders of OnePlus, confirmed that two OnePlus mobiles, the OnePlus 3 and 3T will receive Android 8.0 officially. In this way, both devices will enjoy a second youth despite the arrival of OnePlus 5. However, as with Nokia handsets, it is still too early to know a specific arrival date for the Android update.
