The Nothing Phone (2) will be backed by a 4,700mAh battery, an increased battery capacity of 200mAh compared to the Phone (1)’s 4,500mAh battery. In the latest tweet, the company said that these changes would boost the overall performance of the upcoming smartphone.
The screen size of the Phone (2) will increase by an additional 0.15 inches, in comparison to the Phone (1), which features a 6.55-inch full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display. This implies that the screen size of the upcoming handset will go up to 6.7 inches.
It is also expected to feature an AMOLED screen, similar to the first-generation phone, with 120Hz refresh rate support.
The Nothing Phone (2) will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, a significant upgrade from Phone (1)’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+. Initial phone tests claimed that the Phone (2) is twice as fast as Phone (1), with a remarkable 80% overall performance improvement.
The Phone (2) design is speculated to be similar to that of its predecessor, Phone (1).
Nothing Phone (2) boasts an SGS-certified carbon footprint of 53.45 kilograms, over 5 kilograms lower than the Phone (1). Moreover, thanks to the usage of the flagship Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, users will get excellent performance on the Phone (2).
The company is offering three years of major Android OS updates and up to four years of security updates with Phone (2) with the intention that prolonged updates would prompt the user to use the device for more years.
Nothing is looking to push for a more greener and sustainable environment through its upcoming Phone (2). To achieve this, the company has used 100% recycled copper foil on the main circuit board and over 90% recycled steel in the 28 stamped steel parts while sustainably sourcing 80% of the plastic parts.
The company claims to have used 100% recycled aluminum made with 100% renewable energy for the handset’s mid-frame. Further, the Phone (2)’s final assembly plants are also powered by 100% renewable energy.
Additionally, the Phone (2) packaging material is plastic-free and made from over 60% recycled fiber, as part of the company’s commitment to minimize waste and promote responsible sourcing.
