Some disappointing news coming in for Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) users! If a recent report is to be believed, the highly anticipated and popular game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) won’t be playable on PS4 consoles.

PS4 Users Won’t Be Able To Play the GTA 6 game

GTa 6 is not coming to PS4 and PS4 Pro

According to video journalist Stephen Totilo, Sony’s recently released information indicates that the company has 118 million monthly active PlayStation users, half of whom are still using the PS4, a console that cannot support GTA 6.

Meanwhile, GTA 6 will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S and is expected to be compatible with the anticipated PS5 Pro. This means PS4 users won’t be able to play the upcoming video game due to hardware limitations on PS4 consoles. In other words, if you are a PS4 user, you will have to upgrade to PS5 to enjoy GTA 6 or miss out on playing the new video game.

Recently, Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, officially confirmed in its latest financial report that GTA 6 will have a ‘Fall’ 2025 release window. This means we can see GTA 6 being released between September 2025 and November 2025. However, the release date for the PC version has yet to be announced.

“As we enter Fiscal 2025 with positive momentum, we expect to deliver Net Bookings of $5.55 to $5.65 billion. Our outlook reflects a narrowing of Rockstar Games’ previously established window of Calendar 2025 to Fall of Calendar 2025 for Grand Theft Auto VI. We are highly confident that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of the title continue to increase,” Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two, said in its Q4 2024 earnings call report.

In December 2023, Rockstar Games, the developer of the GTA series, released the first trailer of its highly anticipated and widely popular game, GTA 6, on its official YouTube channel. The trailer quickly became the third-most viral video with 93 million views within 24 hours and the most-liked game trailer with 8.9 million views, sparking immense excitement and anticipation among gamers.

As the trailer unfolds, Lucia, the franchise’s first playable female protagonist, can be seen in a prison. Once out of jail, she commits crimes with her male accomplice in Bonnie and Clyde-style in Vice City. GTA 6 is expected to head to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond with sunsets, beaches, and yachts.
