Reliance Jio Sends Legal Notice To Airtel!

Indian users are enjoying the free internet that is provided by Reliance Jio. Reliance Jio had dominated the telecom industry. There is always a fight between Jio and Airtel, and it just doesn’t seem to end.

Earlier, Airtel had complained to TRAI regarding Jio’s free promotional offers. Now, it time for Reliance Jio to fight back. Well, if you watch television then you might have noticed new ad of Airtel.

Airtel claimed that their network is the “Fastest” in India. Airtel claimed in the new advertisement that is advertised on television that Airtel is “Officially India’s Fastest Network.”

Reliance Jio in return lodged a complaint with Advertising Standards Council of India against the false claims. Jio had appealed to the ASCI to take action against the new fake ad of Airtel that is being aired on Televisions.

Well in the advertisement, Airtel had cited Ookla LLC, the company behind the popular app Speedtest. According to Ookla, Airtel had got the “Fastest Mobile Carrier Award” in the month of February. Well, Reliance Jio stated that Ookla isn’t recognized by TRAI so the word “Officially” can’t be used.

Jio’s Spokesperson said “We are aware of the material flaw in Ookla Speedtest and have also raised it with them in the past. In spite of acknowledging this flaw, we are surprised that Ookla has gone ahead and released misleading results. We have initiated suitable actions at appropriate forums.”

Airtel’s Spokesperson said “Airtel has been rated as India’s fastest mobile network by Ookla—the global leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications. This is clearly mentioned in the ad. Ookla’s findings are based on analysis of millions of internet speed tests logged on ‘modern devices’ by mobile customers across India using its popular Speedtest app. The results include all mobile tests, regardless of connection technology.”

Well, the COO of Ookla Jamie Steven claimed that Speedtest app is the best way to measure your internet speed and it is now actively used billions of times which make it the powerful global leader in internet speed testing and metrics.

Reliance Jio had asked Advertising Standards Council of India to tell Airtel to remove the advertisements and also asked Ookla to recognize that there are “Serious and fundamental flaws” in their methods to test data speeds.
