Sony Finally Plans To Redesign Its Phones
If you remember many popular smartphone manufacturers have unveiled their new handsets at Mobile World Congress that held early this year. During the Mobile World Congress, Sony showed off its Xperia XZ Premium smartphone that is the first phone from Sony to feature latest Snapdragon 835 processor.
According to the reports from Indian Express, Sony, which for years has invested in a well-shaped rectangular thick-edged format with very fewer changes with each new generation, is apparently going to bring phones with a completely redesigned design.
Kenichiro Hibi who is the managing director of Sony India said “We have deployed an omnibalance design as long as the X series continues to be available in the market. Also, we are planning to launch new generation of products and you can expect a complete new design from the devices”
If we look around, smartphone manufactures got a new trend which is known as “Bezel-less” and manufacturers are adopting the unusual 18:9 aspect ratio. In order to keep pace with the competition, Hibi believes that adopting a nearby bezel-less design for its next-generation flagship will help them to fix a good position.
In the interview, Hibi didn’t say anything about what can be anticipated, nor when. However, Sony usually unveils new smartphones between February and March. So, the upcoming handset is expected to be announced during MWC 2019.
