Have You Spotted Facebook’s Hidden Second News Feed?

If you remember a few months ago, Facebook, the social media giant was found testing an alternative news feed in the app for iOS and Android. At that time, Facebook started displaying a rocket icon in the app for Android and iOS.

Well, that rocket icon takes users to an alternate feed of pages that they don’t follow, with posts you might be interested in. However, the feature was found in a small group of users.

Facebook had just confirmed to TechCrunch, that they are now officially rolling out the “Explore Feed” feature to everyone on mobile and desktop. As we already mentioned, this new section will help you to discover content beyond what your friends have liked and shared.

Facebook’s algorithm collects details based on users past likes and shares, as well as content popular among friends. The new Explore feed section offers the same kind of content, images, and videos seen on regular feed, but from sources that you don’t follow.

On the desktop version. the new feed is found in the left-side sidebar, within the “Explore” section. On the mobile version, the Explore feed is in the main navigation under the “More” menu.

So, the overall goal of Facebook with this new Explore feed feature is to increase users’ time on site. This will allow the social media giant to serve more ads in between the content. So, this is basically a second-tier News Feed that Facebook could monetize.
