The inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW) wants to change the world a second time and we hope he gets it. Humanity desperately needs Tim Berners-Lee. Yes, according to the latest reports, the inventor of the World Wide Web (WWW), of course, Tim Berners-Lee is going to change the internet.

Tim Berners-Lee Is Going To Change The Internet

Tim Berners-Lee, the father of the web is concerned about the different scandals that have arisen around the use and filtering of personal data, the discourses of hatred and disinformation, as well as the concentration of power in few hands.

The web changed a lot since this British scientist managed to establish the first communication between a client and a server using an HTTP protocol in 1989 until now. And as there were great improvements and advances since then, several pitfalls were also emerging that began to affect the credibility and essence of the web.

Hence, the father of the web, of course, Tim Berners-Lee believes that it is urgent and necessary to do something to recover lost confidence, to come back, at least a little, to the idea of cooperative information that today is threatened.

With this purpose, it presented a Contract for the web, an initiative for governments, companies, and citizens to work together and ensure the free flow of information, taking care of the privacy of users.

This idea was unveiled in the framework of the international conference technology Web Summit Conference, which takes place from November 5 to 9. “Some aspects of the policy, such as the neutrality of the network, have to involve governments, some clearly involve companies: large companies, small businesses and new companies,” he said in an interview before the launch, according to Reuters.

In addition, he stressed that people have to commit to respect “human dignity so that everyone feels safe and welcome online.” An idea that is almost perfect when you think about the omnipresence of trolls in social networks.

The principles listed as part of this contract for the website have already received the support of more than 50 organizations, including governments and technology giants such as Google and Facebook.

The father of the web, of course, Tim Berners-Lee said the terms of the contract will be agreed in the coming months and will be announced in May 2019, although it is not entirely clear how these ideas will be altered. At the same time, people were invited to get involved in this initiative by publishing their ideas with the hashtag #ForTheWeb.

The keys to this new social contract

In short, the father of the web, of course, Tim Berners-Lee wants companies and governments to commit to making the Internet accessible to all, that information circulates in an unrestricted manner and the privacy of users remain safe.
