Western Digital Launches Its First Portable SSD

American computer data storage company, Western Digital which is known for its storage drives, has decided to foray into the portable SSD market. Well, previously Western Digital had introduced My passport portable hard drive which lacks USB-C support and carries a bulky design.

However, Western Digital just announced the My Passport SSD which seems to have almost everything needed to be the best portable drive. The company has made the product available in three variants 256GB, 512GB and 1TB and the price starts from $100.

The new palm-sized SSD from western Digital claims that the My Passport SSD offers sequential read/write speed of up to 515MBps using the USB Type-c port. Well, My Passport SSD from western digital is compatible with USB Type-C and USB Type-A ports.

Western Digital’s new portable SSD comes with 256-bit AES hardware encryption and password protection. The company claimed that the portable design controls heat and it is also shock resistant.
