Yes, it means Yahoo is trying to save its Verizon acquisition deal.
Yahoo Disables Auto Email-Forwarding Feature, Making It Harder For Users To Leave
In the long novel that we are living in the dramatic fall of Yahoo, it seems to still have a few more chapters. When we all thought it was over after announcing its sale to Verizon, the company has faced two mega leaks of data and allow the charge to NSA and the FBI spying on its users.
In fact, this last accusation seems to be one that is doing more damage to the credibility of the company. Hence, Yahoo has disabled automatic forwarding of emails. Associated Press reported on it, and the company refuses to give explanations to news agencies, although some users see it as an attempt to prevent them from leaving the service.
Automatic forwarding sends a copy of incoming messages from one account to another. This feature is under development. While we work to improve it, we’ve temporarily disabled the ability to turn on Mail Forwarding for new forwarding addresses. If you’ve already enabled Mail Forwarding in the past, your email will continue to forward to the address you previously configured.
Last week, Reuters quoted a domestic source to ensure that Yahoo had been allowing US intelligence agencies to spy on the information and private communications of its users. This would violate their privacy agreements.
Here is what Yahoo has shared the following statement about the recent move:-
“We’re working to get auto-forward backup and running as soon as possible because we know how useful it can be to our users. The feature was temporarily disabled as part of previously planned maintenance to improve its functionality between a user’s various accounts. Users can expect an update to the auto-forward functionality soon. In the meantime, we continue to support multiple account management.”
After this controversy and the biggest hack in its history last month, many users who have decided to leave Yahoo Mail. In fact, some see the timing of this decision an attempt to try to prevent the bleeding of users who have decided to close their accounts.
If you’re going to leave an email is logical that you first configure an automatic forwarding for a time to keep track of certain post, and as it told some companies, however, this decision has already led some have to cancel migration and subsequent closure of their Yahoo accounts.
