Acer a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics company had recently experienced a data violation on its e-commerce website. The website has been hacked by anonymous hackers who may have access to buyers name, email id, and credit card information.

Acer, a Taiwanese multinational hardware and electronics company recently suffered a data breach on its e-commerce website. the Taiwanese technology claimed that an unauthorized party had accessed the credit card data, names, and address in between May 2015 to April 2016.

Following the unauthorized access, Acer informed the mishappenings to the California attorney that its online store has been hacked. According to the letter which was sent by a user to the California Attorney General’s office stated that “We recently identified a security issue involving the information of certain customers who used our e-commerce site between May 12, 2015, and April 28, 2016, which resulted in unauthorized access by a third party.”

Acer’s vice president of customer service Mark Grove under also said “We do not collect Social Security numbers, and we have not identified evidence indicating that password or login credentials were affected”

According to the sources, the company hasn’t yet found any evidence that proves that the users login credentials were been affected. However, they were aware of the mishappenings.

The company also started safeguarding the users personal information and have also asked help of cyber security experts in which the company stated “Safeguarding your personal information is important to us. We took immediate steps to remediate this security issue upon identifying it, and we are being assisted by outside cyber security experts. We have reported this issue to our credit card payment processor. We have also contacted and offered our full cooperation to federal law enforcement.

Acer’s vice president of customer service Mark Groveunder also said “If you suspect that you are a victim of identity theft or fraud, you have the right to file a police report. In addition,you may contact your State Attorney General’s office or the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to learn about steps you can take to protect yourself against identity theft.”

If you are Acer customer and if you had performed any transaction in-between the period of May 12, 2015, and April 28, 2016, then you need to check your bank account if you detect any unusual activity then contact Acer immediately.
