The appeal of GIFs has taken on gigantic proportions in recent years. Sometimes animated images are able to summarize messages that are not always easily interpreted with texts.

Thinking about it, the tech giant Google has just announced the purchase of Tenor, a tool that provides GIFs for sharing in other applications. The goal of the purchase is to enhance the user experience on Google Images and other company services, such as Gboard.

According to the well-known media website TechCrunch, Tenor has more than 12 billion monthly searches and has been trying to position itself as a useful search for both users and companies.

For users, the idea of the application is to allow them not to waste so much time to find the GIF they want. And for business, the main advantage is the ability to display GIFs as ads in these results.

The tech giant Google has not reported the value of the acquisition, but said that Tenor should act as a separate brand “to invest in technology and relationships with content partners and API.”

It remains to be seen how the tech giant Google’s support will affect Tenor’s performance in a marketplace with competitors such as Giphy, which has about 300 million daily users, and Gfycat, which is used by more than 130 million users each month.
