Google has started removing the “Movies & TV” tab from the play store on Android. Earlier, in March, the company announced about this and said users can no longer browse, search, buy, or rent shows and movies from the play store.
Now, users can purchase and rent shows and movies from Google TV. On Google TV, users can see a library with the “Highlights” news feed.
According to the latest reports, Google TV is the new replacement. However, it doesn’t have many changes compared to the previous style.

On the Play Store app, now users will see only three tabs, Games, Apps, and Books. The Movies & TV section is removed. These three tabs might have Offers or Play Pass as a fourth option.
Google explained, “On Google TV, you will find the same experience you are used to on Google Play Movies & TV with the latest new releases, rentals, deals, and great recommendations for you.”
Play Store on Android now focuses on apps, games, ebooks, and audiobooks. The three tabs are available at the bottom bar. The navigation is slightly cleaner.
Last week, the disappearing of the tab reports came out. Google has updated its announcement post that starting in May 2022, the Google TV app will be a new home for entertainment.
If you have purchased content, don’t worry, it will be available in the Google TV app. Also, the purchases done on the Google TV app are eligible for family sharing and Play Points. All the wishlists and reviews can be downloaded via takeout.google.com.
