Google Just Unveiled Its New Security Key For Enhanced Online Security
When the theme is security, the tech giant Google’s name is always implied with high standards. Their concern to keep their users protected is constant and, for this, bets on creating the most secure solutions.
In addition to all the software it creates, especially in this field, the tech giant Google also dedicates itself to creating hardware. The latest proposal is Titan Key, an authentication key to ensure maximum user safety.
It was this week that the tech giant Google reported that it had been able to completely eliminate all phishing attacks that were presented to its more than 85,000 employees from the beginning of 2017 through the use of hardware security keys.
These are devices that perform the authentication processes and require physical access to the devices, with security levels greater than 2-factor authentication.
In fact, what these officials were testing was the tech giant Google’s latest security proposal, Titan Key, which had its dedication of fire and passed with distinction.
The Titan Key will come in two FIDO-compatible versions: one that will be plugged into a USB port and the other that will work with Bluetooth, which allows it to work on mobile devices as well.
Because physical presence is required at the machines where they will be used, the risk of messages being intercepted is eliminated and compromise authentication, such as SMS-based two-factor authentication.
Although there are still not many details about the Titan Key, it is known that it costs $50 and can be purchased by customers of the Google Cloud service.
Soon this security key can also be purchased by everyone with a Google account and be used on various Internet sites, not just Google, as an authentication mechanism.
With this novelty, the tech giant Google also enters a market where there are proposals such as Yubikey, which the tech giant Google had been recommending for several years.
