NASA Scientists including space experts have made special journal edition that explain how can we form human colony on the moon by the year 2022. Scientists claim that total expenditures for creating this colony is $10 Billion.

Humans Could Live on Moon By 2022, says NASA

The NASA Scientists say that is could be possible to construct a base that can accommodate 10 astronauts for more than a year by 2022 as the technologies required for it already exist in present.

Earlier, we witnessed that all efforts were made to find life in Mars but currently US has no firm plans to go back to Mars. The European Space Agency, Russia and China are eager to setup base there.

NASA astrobiologist Chris McKay says “My interest is not the Moon. To me the Moon is as dull as a ball of concrete,”. But we’re not going to have a research base on Mars until we can learn how to do it on the Moon first. The Moon provides a blueprint to Mars.”

“The reason all the previous plans for going back to the moon have failed is that they’re just way too expensive,” says McKay. “The space program is living in a delusion of unlimited budgets, which traces back to Apollo.”

Also, the Apollo program which allowed the humans to make entry on the moon would have cost about $150 Billion by today’s standards. However, NASA’s entire budget for the year 2016 is just $19.3 Billion.

“The space program is living in a delusion of unlimited budgets, which traces back to Apollo.”

Gradually, Humans will start living on Moon with a few short stays by a small group. The missions will likely get extended over a certain period of time and it will become a permanent living hub of humans. After, that many people and their children will find a abode on moon on permanent basis.

There is possibility of other technologies to get adopted in order to lessen the expenditures of a moon base. For eg. Virtual Reality :A lunar VR environment, incorporating the data sets knowledge bases, could be a powerful tool for prospecting, operational scenario development, and refinement of designs from various teams. A further integration of real world engineering software for thermal environmental testing, structures, CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing and 3D printing could be a template for building a Tony Stark style (the VR environment from the first Iron Man movie) prototyping environment that could greatly advance the design of a lunar development as well identifying and solving some of the problems before we get there.

In order to set up human colonies on moon, Dennis Wingo from spacecraft manufacturer SkyCorp, said that construction materials will be taken from meteors and the lunar soil.

Also, 3D Printing Technologies will be adopted to robotically create structures using the lunar soil and the broken components could be substituted by printing which will save the requirement to launch spares to the moon.

Additionally, inflatable habitats as those developed by Bigelow Aerospace, could be used on the Moon to accommodate astronauts.

Wingo further said that the foremost possible area for the first lunar base could be a Peary Crater which is adjacent to Moon’s North Pole. This area is abundantly flat and it also gets substantial amount of sunlight and may contain rich levels of minerals.
