Instagram Videos Will Now Show Captions

Instagram has rolled out a new feature called auto-generated captions for videos. A similar feature is already available on TikTok from last year. This feature will now allow the users to watch Instagram videos with captions.

On Tuesday, the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, announced the feature. However, first, also users were able to see the captions, but the creators had to manually add captions to the videos.

Now, with the latest update, the addition of captions has made it easier for users who are deaf. Also, the new feature is helpful for users who prefer to watch videos without sound.

The auto-generated captions on Instagram is on by default for the creators on Instagram. With this, the creators will consume a lot of time in the process, as they don’t need to add captions now. If the creator wants to turn off the auto caption, then they can do it via Advanced Settings > Accessibility > Show Captions, or Manage Caption in the menu of the video.

Adam Mosseri posted a tweet announcing the new Instagram feature.

According to Instagram, the automatic captions use AI; the captions won’t be perfect. So, if you get any errors, then don’t be disappointed as the quality of AI will improve as its learnings increase. So, now it will be easier to watch Instagram videos.

Recently, Instagram has shut down its IGTV app, which will not be available for Android and iOS users from mid-March. This move has taken so that the videos will be accessible right from the main app.

In a blog post, the company said,

“Video is a huge part of why people enjoy Instagram, and we love how our creator community uses it to express themselves, collaborate with others, and connect with their followers.”

Apart from this, Instagram is also making encrypted one-to-one chats available to both Ukraine and Russia.
