On Thursday, Microsoft released the first preview of Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 for commercial customers using Windows or macOS.
Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 Now Available For Windows & macOS
This Microsoft Office Long-Term Servicing Channel 2024 (Office LTSC 2024) is built specifically for businesses and organizations that require a long-term servicing channel, such as regulated devices that cannot accept feature updates for years at a time, have no internet connectivity, or medical testing equipment with embedded apps that need to remain unchanged over time.
Office LTSC 2024 will be a valuable upgrade for customers who need to keep their Office apps on-premises. The latest preview program includes the following products:
- Microsoft Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Access)
- Microsoft Office LTSC Standard for Mac 2024 (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote)
- Microsoft Project Professional 2024
- Microsoft Visio Professional 2024
Further, Office LTSC 2024 will also include features from past Office releases and a subset of new features already available in Microsoft 365 Apps for the enterprise. However, Office LTSC 2024 will not include Microsoft Publisher, as it is being retired soon. The Microsoft Teams app will now be available as a separate download.
In addition, Microsoft Office LTSC 2024 will get five years of support under the Fixed Lifecycle Policy on Windows 11 and Windows 10, in parallel with Windows 11 LTSC, which will also launch later this year. Deployment of both Office LTSC and Microsoft 365 Apps to different machines within the same organization using a standard set of deployment tools will be supported using Click-to-Run on Windows and Apple Package format (pkg) on Mac.
“Office LTSC 2024 builds upon the core functionalities of earlier versions, introducing several advancements to enhance productivity, security, and accessibility. This update includes new options for creating meetings and refined search capabilities in Outlook. Additionally, Excel receives a range of new features, such as Dynamic Charts and Arrays, marking significant improvements over the previous Office LTSC release,” Microsoft explained.

Earlier this week, Microsoft announced that Office 2019 and Office 2016 will reach their end of support (EOS) on October 14, 2025. After this end date, Microsoft will no longer provide security fixes, bug fixes, or technical support, as Office 2024 will be an in-place replacement for them.
