But, now according to the latest reports, this PNG image can easily hack any Android device.
BEWARE! This PNG Image Can Hack Your Android Smartphone
We already have assimilated that a .exe file represents a significant risk for our computer and on mobiles, we know that a .apk, which is an installer for an application, if it does not come from reliable sources can simply cause risks for our smartphone.
But who is afraid of a .png file? First of all let me clarify that it is an image file format, hence, many of you might be thinking that it should not pose any problem for our smartphone right? Well, now according to the latest reports, it has been discovered that an image file is enough to attack an Android mobile device.
We all know very well that for some time now, the Mountain View company, of course, the tech giant Google releases a monthly security update for its popular and most used mobile operating system, of course, Android and in the most recent, corresponding to the month of February, the tech giant Google itself has warned about this critical failure that affects the security of its most used mobile operating system Android.
As explained in the journal, the attackers simply use a file in .PNG format to attack a smartphone or tablet. However, the ‘design’ of this type of files has not been specified in .png format, simply to avoid the use of the security failure, but with them, arbitrary code with privileges on the system can be executed and it affects Android 7.0, Android 9.0 and all versions between these two versions of OS.
It does not take more than a .PNG (image) file to break the security of an Android device, and it also does not matter if it is a smartphone or a tablet. As the devices that receive direct updates from the Mountain View company, of course, the tech giant Google which is the Pixel and Android One, must have already received this security patch that solves this important security flaw regarding the images in .png format.
However, many other devices with the affected versions will never receive the update that has just been released by the Mountain View company, of course, the tech giant Google. Therefore, Google has decided to ignore the details of the security problem with the intention of preventing attackers from taking advantage of the failure and attacking users.
But, this does not prevent it from being used soon; hence, it is best to apply the update from the device settings, if available. And if not, have updated antivirus on your smartphone or tablet simply to prevent a problem of this type from affecting your smartphone or tablet. So, what do you think about this?
