WhatsApp: Ads Will Start Appearing In The App

The world’s most used instant messaging app, of course, WhatsApp has recently confirmed that it will have ads within the app, more specifically in the Status, which feature stories and it is used daily by 500 million people.

As recently, at a Facebook event, the company itself has confirmed that the ads will arrive by 2020, and before that, advertisers will have more tools to use in the app.

Advertiser Olivier Ponteville was present at the Facebook Marketing Summit (FMS19) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, a closed event where the social network itself has confirmed that WhatsApp will show advertisements on Status by 2020.

Moreover, the WhatsApp ads seem to work the same way as in Instagram Stories: vertical photos and videos that appear between one story and another with the “Sponsored” tag, and an arrow that can be slid up to open the company website.

This will be just one of the tools for advertisers, while the social network giant Facebook and Instagram will have ads that play when they open in WhatsApp. The presentation mentions a legendary example from Jasper’s Market: “Send us a message until 4 pm to receive your purchases or orders at home.”

Companies can also send WhatsApp messages with image and text, or PDF and text as well, simply to get more customer attention.

Moreover, you can also send a message in WhatsApp with the “View product” button, which takes you to a new interface: it is as if the product gained its own profile, with photo, description, price and the option to send message to buy it.

The presentation quotes a $6.50 brownie pizza sold by a company called Cupcakes by Isa, with which it can simply send a message when any product was touched and simply take the customer to a product description within WhatsApp. By, touching the option “See All,” you will find the store’s menu with all the flavors of cupcakes.

Apart from all these things, the WhatsApp product catalog will be integrated with already existing Facebook’s catalog. Hence, with this, users can simply message about a product, view the product and the product catalog as well as we told.
