Wikileaks, the Anti-secrecy organization on Tuesday, published more than thousands of documents that they named “Sophisticated software tools” which are used by CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). WikiLeaks claimed that these tools have the potential to break into smartphones, computers and even Smart TVs

According to the reports from The New York Times, Wikileaks has just published the first part of the document collection, which includes 7,818 web pages with 943 attachments. The entire archive of CIA material might consist hundred million line of computer code.

WikiLeaks claims that the CIA and allied Intelligence services had already managed to bypass the encryption on the modern smartphone and messaging services like Signal, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Any government hacker can penetrate phones and collect “audio and message traffic before encryption is applied.”

The name of the documents sources is yet to be disclosed. However, Wikileaks said the documents, which they called ‘Vault 7’ had been “circulated among former US government hackers and contractors in an unauthorized manner, one of whom has provided WikiLeaks with portions of the archive.”

In a statement to WikiLeaks the source details policy questions that “urgently need to be debated in public, including whether the CIA’s hacking capabilities exceed its mandated powers and the problem of public oversight of the agency.”

The source wishes “to initiate a public debate about the security, creation, use, proliferation and democratic control of cyberweapons.” WikiLeaks claimed that the documents from the CIA’s Centre for Cyber Intelligence which is dated from the year 2013 to 2016 are “the largest ever publication of confidential documents on the agency.”

Dean Boyd, a CIA spokesman, said: “We do not comment on the authenticity or content of purported intelligence documents.”. According to the reports from India “Some of the details of the CIA programmes might have come from the plot of a spy novel for the cyberage, revealing numerous highly classified — and in some cases, exotic — hacking programs, The NYT added.”

One of the CIA programs which are codenamed as Weeping Angel utilizes Samsung “Smart” television as secret listening devices. According to WikiLeaks, even if the Television is turned off, the television “operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the internet to a covert CIA server.”

According to WikiLeaks release, the programs were developed in collaboration with British Intelligence. After the publication from WikiLeaks, Smart TVs have been a focus for hackers and cybersecurity experts because they believe the ability to record and transmit conversation is a potentially dangerous vulnerability.
