Amazon’s Alexa Calls Guy “Shithead” After He Cancelled Prime Subscription
Well, if we look around, we will find that virtual assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa, etc. have been making our everyday life more comfortable. Amazon’s family of Echo speakers were one of the hottest gifts right now, and these speakers respond to either ‘Alexa’ or ‘Amazon’. These speakers are quick to respond and got the ability to understand your commands precisely.
Although the role of a virtual assistant is to make our life easier, it can also land you in some troubles. The recent case suggests that these days, virtual assistants are not smart; instead, they are over smart.
Recently, a 29-year-old man from South Wales was left in shock after finding his Amazon Echo Dot device calling him ‘Shithead’ when asked to play music. Michael Slade said that after reaching home when he asked the personal assistant to play some music, he got the reply ‘ Sure, here’s your playlist Shithead on Amazon Music. Sorry, something went wrong’
The owner of the Amazon Echo device, of course, Michael Slade, said that he never set up a playlist on his Echo dot. So, what’s the possible reason behind such rudeness? Well, Michael Slade claims that he spoke to Amazon Prime’s customer care a day before to cancel his Amazon Prime Subscription.
“I tried to cancel my subscription and had a short conversation with someone in customer services and the next day my Alexa is calling me names”
So, it looks like Alexa couldn’t handle the fact that a customer was ditching her, hence emitting all hate in such form. Michael Slade immediately talked to customer care regarding the ugly incident. In return, the technical team provides Michael a £5 worth gift voucher as compensation.
Well, its also worth to note that Amazon Echo devices got the ability to customize many settings, including the playlist names. So, if anyone names a playlist ‘Shithead’ it could read like that only. However, Michael Slade claims that he didn’t do anything with the Echo Dot settings.
The reports from The Sun claims that after the incidence, the company provided Michael Slade a year’s of free Amazon Prime Subscription and a £250 gift coupon as compensation. The company has also asked Michael to provide his Alexa logs to find out the exact reason behind such ugly incidence.
