Google announced that it will kill its Chrome App launcher. As the users from major operating systems like Windows, Mac, Linux choose to launch their apps from within Chrome so it plans to kill the app launcher.

“The app launcher makes Chrome apps easy to open outside the browser, but we’ve found that users on Windows, Mac, and Linux prefer to launch their apps from within Chrome. With Chrome’s continued emphasis on simplicity and streamlining browser features, the launcher will be removed from those platforms. It will remain unchanged on Chrome OS” states Chromium Blog.

Also, users with launcher will receive a notification about the removal. The company plans to carry removal process in the next few weeks. “Beginning in a few weeks, Chrome will no longer enable the launcher when users first install a Chrome app. Anyone who currently has the launcher will receive a notice informing them that the launcher will be going away. In July, existing instances of the launcher will be removed”.

Last month, Google decided stop Picasa Photo Service in the few coming months. “In March, Google will retire its Picasa Desktop App and in May it will close Picasa Web Albums and also you won’t be able edit your photos”.
