Not done ‘intentionally’: Apple on Older iPhones Slowdown

At the end of 2017, we have seen tech giant Apple openly admitted that they purposely slowed down older iPhones with an iOS update. Well, Apple had taken this step just to avoid battery hazards.

However, that move from Apple has recorded the worst outcome. Apple customers felt it hard to digest the news. The company on return issued a lengthy letter of apology to its customers on which it claims that there has been some “misunderstanding about the issue”

The US decided to investigate Apple for possible violations of securities laws over slowing down of older iPhones. The government has requested information from the company on which the Cupertino-based giant said it has never done anything “intentionally” to short the life of its products.

The US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are right now investigating Apple for how it disclosed information in software updates that slowed down iPhones.

CNN Quoted an Apple’s statement late on Wednesday “As we told our customers in December, we have never – and would never – do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product, or degrade the user experience to drive customer upgrades,”

Earlier this month, Apple has also said that they are going to push another update that will give users a feature to monitor the health of their battery. The update will carry an option to disable performance throttling which will help users to avoid slowdowns.
